Specialty Spaces - What They Are and How to Find Them

At OFab, when approaching many of the typical issues our Clients face, we have a lot of creative solutions. Many times, we have converted or created dedicated areas for special items or collections they want displayed.

Examples abound of these conundrums, but here are some of the ways we have solved many of the common problems we’ve encountered over the years:

  1. Craft carts/bar carts, jewelry armoires (I use these all the time, both at home and for Clients!) and unused closets

Everyone knows we love a good bar, and here we have examples of how they’re so easy to create - and they roll, so you can take them wherever the party is!

Jewelry is a perennial challenge no matter what age you are, ladies! (Guys, we’ve got you covered, too! For your watches, sunglasses, sports memorabilia etc.) We have a LOT of experience finding the right organization products for each problem.

Whenever we spy an unused or awkward closet, we assess how useful it can be for specific things our Clients want to keep handy or that they use but have no place for. No such thing with OFab!

2. Pool houses, casitas and patios

Beware - these places can be traps for clutter! But did you know they can also be a life (and space!) saver, appropriate for several purposes?

At OFab, we have seen this a million times. We work with the Clients to make sure that they have what they need close by or they want to display something or keep some things out of sight.

Several of our favorite examples of these gems are pool houses, casitas and patios. We tell Clients never to neglect their outdoor usefulness and beauty (especially when showing a home!) These are open areas where your friends and family can enjoy the outdoors and you can still use them efficiently and for many purposes.

3. Bonus rooms, sheds, areas of a garage

Bonus rooms aren’t as common as they used to be, but we view them as a perfect place to store “usable clutter”. With the right products - airtight, clear stackable bins - they can use the room without it becoming a dumping ground! The same goes with sheds, although proper storage of these items is more key due to potential damage from being outside.

Garages are a challenge when it comes to clutter. Everyone knows how easy it is to let them be a catch-all and then end up with a mess no one wants to even see, let alone use. When we have Clients who want their collections nearby and also stored properly, we like to establish a section of their garage and, as with a bonus room, store their things in airtight, clear stackable bins or boxes so they can see what each box contains without having to open 15 boxes to find one item!

4. Even a boat and a music studio!

Yes, at OFab we do it all! We tackled a gorgeous sailboat that was NOT in ship shape, and we stowed everything away nice and tidy, using the perfect organization products and implementing them strategically. This included a LOT of rope, clothes, computer desk and of course, a bar. 😎

We managed it in our inimitable style and boy, did we have a happy captain!

Last but not least, we were able to pack, move, unpack and set up our Client’s music studio to create a multi-purpose space with a seating area as well as tons of room for instruments and their accompanying cords, parts and overall detritus.

Sometimes finding these extra places in your own home can be difficult, but we excel at spatial relations (ie, Tetris)! We work with the Client and assess their family’s particular wants and needs, and organize their belongings/collections in the most logical and accessible manner that fits their unique style.

Like most people, you probably have a random collection of “stuff” that you don’t know what to do with. We’ve configured any number of different areas and, whether it’s camping gear, sports equipment or weather-related necessities…

We can make it work!
